U2 to Headline NFL Thanksgiving Eve Halftime on Netflix

The NFL’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game will kick off with a legendary soundtrack. U2, the iconic Irish rock band, will headline the halftime show on November 25 as the Green Bay Packers face the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The game—and U2’s performance—will stream live on Netflix, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT, marking another milestone in the streaming giant’s growing partnership with the league.

For U2, the performance is more than just another stadium show. It arrives as the band celebrates its 50th anniversary and prepares to release its 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz, on November 13. The album’s third single, The Greatest Show on Earth, co-written with longtime collaborator Brian Eno, offers a preview of the band’s upcoming 2027 world tour, The Greatest Show on Earth, which kicks off in February 2027 with dates in Mexico City, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires. Beck will open all six announced shows, with more dates expected to follow.

Why This Halftime Show Matters

U2’s return to football’s biggest stage is a full-circle moment. Nearly 25 years ago, the band delivered one of the most memorable Super Bowl halftime performances in history. At Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, just months after the September 11 attacks, U2 paid tribute to the victims by projecting their names behind the band as Bono revealed an American flag. This Thanksgiving Eve show offers a chance to revisit that legacy while introducing the band’s new music to a global audience.

Netflix’s NFL broadcasts have become a platform for musical spectacle. The streamer’s 2024 Christmas Day halftime show featured Beyoncé in a performance dubbed the Beyoncé Bowl, while Snoop Dogg hosted Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party last year, complete with appearances from Lainey Wilson, Andrea Bocelli, and the vocal group HUNTR/X. U2’s booking continues this trend, blending sports and music for a night that promises to be unforgettable for both football fans and music lovers.

How to Watch and What to Expect

• When: November 25, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT (halftime performance timing TBA)
• Where: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, California
• How to Watch: Live on Netflix (no subscription details or paywall mentioned)
• What’s Next for U2: Carnaval De Luz drops November 13, followed by the 2027 tour

The performance will likely blend classic hits like Where the Streets Have No Name and Beautiful Day with new tracks from Carnaval De Luz. Given U2’s history of theatrical, politically charged performances, fans can expect a show that balances anthemic rock with visual storytelling—a hallmark of the band’s live sets.

A Night for Fans and Newcomers Alike

For longtime U2 fans, the halftime show is a rare opportunity to see the band in a high-profile, globally streamed event ahead of their 2027 tour. For newer listeners, it’s a chance to experience the stadium-sized energy that has defined U2’s live performances for decades. Netflix’s global reach ensures the show will reach millions, making it one of the year’s most-watched musical events.

As Netflix continues to expand its NFL lineup—including a Christmas Day doubleheader and a Week 18 playoff-deciding game—U2’s halftime performance solidifies the streamer’s reputation for delivering blockbuster entertainment at the intersection of sports and music. Whether you’re tuning in for the game, the band, or both, November 25 promises to be a night to remember.
